Sverre was seriously wounded at The Battle of ’s-Hertogenbosch. Awarded the St. Olav’s Medal with Oak Leaf and the Military Cross. Later Sverre became Chief of Defence (Forsvarssjefen) from March 21st. 1977 till June 30th. 1982. The Chief of Defence is the highest-ranking officer of the Norwegian Armed Forces, second only to the King of Norway.
